For too long, the dance industry has struggled with a lack of representation and a glaring lack of inclusive dancewear. To understand why a change is so desperately needed, we only have to look at the story of Shades’ co-founder, Stacey. From the age of four, she became accustomed to being the only dancer in the room wearing pink ballet tights and shoes that didn’t match her skin tone.

Founded in the UK by passionate co-founders Laura and Stacey, and born from the vital advocacy work of The TIRED Movement (Trying to Improve Racial Equality in Dance), Shades Dancewear is more than a brand... it is a movement, a mission, and a message.
